In STEM fields, gateway courses often pose formidable hurdles for students. Institutions and instructors constantly explore innovative ways to address this challenge. The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) offers a framework for faculty to systematically examine and improve teaching practices. This article describes how one institution implemented an SoTL initiative focused on gateway courses.
